I RECENTLY rediscovered my first online post of April 2015, an early debunking of the climate change hoax and what later became Net Zero. I debunked the climate hoax again in May 2024, helpfully rendered as a polished video presentation by fellow campaigner Ivor Cummins. Significant developments since then have at long last brought the economy-wrecking Net Zero agenda close to its inevitable demise.
The 2015 post was my submission to a Scottish consultation on how the supposed energy transition from fossil fuels to renewables would affect the security of the national electricity supply. Ten years on, that hubristic and patently unattainable energy transition is confirmed to be a delusional, impossible pipedream. I easily showed that it wouldn’t work in this 2020 post with a graph of fossil fuel dependency projecting UK Net Zero to sometime next century and the world as a whole much later, realistically never.
Official figures prove that Net Zero is a charade. The latest Statistical Review of World Energy gives the world’s dependency on indispensable fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, coal) for its primary energy supplies as a showstopping 86.6 per cent, still barely off the Net Zero start line. That dependency ratio and the extreme divergence between the world and UK trendlines of annual CO2 emissions prove conclusively that UK Net Zero is utterly pointless.
The sinister ulterior goal of Net Zero
Why then does the UK Uniparty insist on pursuing this ruinously-expensive, economy-wrecking yet pointless agenda? The previously unfathomable answer is now obvious (see also Agenda 2030 below): they see it as a Covid 2.0 means to impose an authoritarian system of technocratic global governance, enforced primarily via rationing of energy and food.
The latest UK official statistics show that in 2024 the UK was still 75.2 per cent dependent on fossil fuels for its primary energy supplies (Dukes 2025), down from 84.5 per cent in 2014 (Dukes 2015). Simplistically, at that rate it would take 80 years from now for the UK to reach Net Zero. Long before then the self-sabotaging UK would be reduced to an energy-starved economic basket-case.
So much for the fantasy Net Zero target date of 2050 (or 2045 for the SNP). It’s as plain as a pikestaff that Net Zero is a ruinously-expensive globalist mafia stitch-up. I called it out in 2019 after the UN IPCC published its desperate 1.5°C Special Report, launched because its prior 2°C target was too slow-burn for Net Zero weaponising. This is because it takes about 25 years (too long to wait) for a rise of 0.5°C according to the UN IPCC (pseudo)-science of CO2 global warming. It is clear that most of the non-OECD world including China and India only pay lip service to “climate change”, hoping to gain Green Climate Fund payments and economic advantage at the expense of gullible Westerners.
Proponents of Net Zero are furious that President Trump and his team have set the cat among the globalist pigeons by rubbishing Net Zero as “a hoax” and overturning Biden’s climate agenda at breakneck speed. The USA has begun withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, cut its UN IPCC financial support and participation and begun the formal process of rescinding its legally-binding “CO2 Endangerment Finding”, the Obama-imposed pseudoscience-based US counterpart to the UK’s 2008 Labour-imposed pseudoscience-based Climate Change Act.
Starmer will not follow the USA example as he wants to deliver on the (hopefully-forlorn) ulterior agenda set by his globalist overlords. However his hapless efforts are certain to flounder on insurmountable constraints of engineering and logistics, national finances, critical mineral scarcity and politics (pressure from Reform UK and others).
UK Net Zero will not be saved by the constant barrage of false climate propaganda, censorship and suppression of the truth from the “Green Blob”, the lying mainstream media (a slick takedown of the corrupt BBC) and Uniparty politicians. To the contrary, such propaganda probably backfires nowadays as ordinary people are sick and tired of bogus climate scaremongering and no longer swallow the “we must tackle climate change” mantra or Starmer’s “clean energy superpower” drivel.
The Net Zero catalogue of (deliberate?) disasters
My 2015 post has aged very well even if I say so myself! It made the easy prediction that attempting to decarbonise using expensive, intermittent, low energy density renewables would lead to economic stagnation and deindustrialisation and sure enough, that’s what has happened.
This House of Commons Library chart of UK average weekly earnings shows flatlining since 2016.
This recent report warns that Net Zero policies are driving energy prices higher, killing jobs, crushing industrial competitiveness and stripping the country of energy sovereignty. There’s also the pernicious “carbon” tax which is squeezing the life out of British industry yet is set to rise even higher thanks to Starmer’s plan to join the more expensive EU ETS scheme.
Sky-high UK energy prices resulting from our pointless attempts to decarbonise have wrecked entire industries over recent years, such as aluminium smelting, blast furnace steel making (e.g. Redcar, Port Talbot), chemicals and oil refining (e.g. Grangemouth, Lindsey) and potteries (e.g. Stoke).
Other major industries are being wilfully pushed towards collapse through Net Zero dogma: North Sea oil and gas production being vandalised by punitive “windfall” taxes and a pointless ban on new drilling permits, with 13,000 Scottish oil and gas jobs lost in 12 months; the car industry being compelled by quotas and punitive fines to produce expensive, user-unfriendly and pointless EVs which hardly any private buyers want to buy. It’s the same story with unwanted and pointless heat pumps.
The dangerous frailties of wind and solar power
One important point not covered in my earlier posts is the belatedly-dawning realisation that wind and solar power are dangerously incompatible with the way the grid was designed to operate. The foregoing link is to an explanatory post by independent energy consultant Kathryn Porter. The inherent lack of inertia of wind and solar creates a heightened risk of grid failure under sudden fault conditions. I first became aware of this little-known frailty from the “out of the blue” 2019 UK power cut that affected a million people, which I posted on here.
That 2019 UK outage was minor compared to the April 2025 pan-Iberia power blackout which caused multiple deaths and a day of nationwide chaos. It could have been much worse as the black start recovery was initially expected to take a full week. It happened out of a clear blue sky due to lack of grid resilience while inertia-less renewable sources were accounting for 78 per cent of electricity generation, with solar almost 60 per cent. The Spanish authorities have effectively admitted to this frailty by now cutting back on solar supply to the grid in favour of conventional plant to avoid a repeat occurrence.
Ed Miliband’s pointless Net Zero plan to decarbonise by 2030 95 per cent of the grid through a massive expansion of wind and solar power has always looked unachievable and ruinously-expensive and it now looks recklessly dangerous as well. Some might even wonder if the damage is being wrought deliberately.
Moreover, Miliband’s 95 per cent plan is a blatant cheat through power stations such as Drax burning biomass (wood pellets) from clean-felled North American forests which is counted as “emissions-free” even although it creates higher CO2 emissions than the coal it replaced. His “let’s pretend” grid decarbonisation would be much more difficult without this Green Blob-sanctioned designation of biomass-burning power stations as “carbon neutral”.
Another irresponsibly-ignored problem with wind and solar is that they are totally useless in cold, dark, windless midwinter when power is needed most. We have had several near miss grid failures due to lack of electricity supply in recent years as the national spare capacity margin has been cut to the bone in pursuit of Net Zero, analysed here by Kathryn Porter and here by campaigner Jaime Jessop. What’s more, the UK only holds about seven days of gas supply during peak winter periods to keep essential gas-fired power stations and home heating running.
It is only a matter of time before we suffer weeks on end of freezing windless midwinter conditions, as happened in 2009-10. We survived then without any power cuts or rolling blackouts because at that time we had minimal reliance on unreliable wind and solar power.
Contrary to misleading establishment puff-pieces, the idea that grid-scale batteries or hydrogen could provide storage sufficient for such extended periods is irresponsible wishful-thinking, explained further here by Andrew Montford and here by the calculation that the UK’s largest battery storage facility will only keep the national grid going for 48 seconds.
In order to keep the lights on, the power output of intermittent wind and solar has to be 100 per cent duplicated by conventional plant to provide grid backup and balancing. Anything less implies inevitable electricity rationing. Building out more and more fickle wind and solar is only going to increase the risk of blackouts. The sooner we give up deploying pointless, technically unsuitable wind and solar and start decommissioning the redundant existing fleet, the better.
The skullduggeries of the corrupt United Nations
We should worry more about the possibility of global cooling. The UN IPCC shamelessly misleads us by not admitting that they are only mandated to study “the risk of climate change caused by human activities”. They scaremonger on their climate model-based hoax hypothesis of man-made CO2 global warming but ignore natural climate variabilities, some with well-defined cyclical periodicity. Contrary to UN IPCC scaremongering, observation-based climate science shows that we could soon face a repeat of the 1960s-70s cold phase of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation and a modern Grand Solar Minimum repeat of the frozen Maunder Minimum of 400 years ago.
It’s not just Net Zero which is grinding us down. The climate change hoax has morphed through numerous unaccountable globalist bodies into the so-called Sustainable Development Goals of the UN’s Agenda 2030. The UK government falsely portrays these goals as worthy and benign when they are actually templates for a malign globalist tyranny of surveillance to control all of the world’s resources, including its people. Researcher Sandi Adams gives an hour-long presentation on the history and ulterior objectives of this dystopian, Malthusian agenda.
No electorate has ever voted for Agenda 2030. It is almost never mentioned by Uniparty politicians complicit in surreptitiously advancing it. This 1984/Brave New World anti-humanity technocratic slavery system is exposed further in this article which introduces a new feature-length documentary about it entitled “The Agenda: Their Vision, Your Future”. The first 10 minutes gives the full flavour.
Fortunately this agenda has the major weakness of being founded on the tired, thoroughly-debunked and now USA-rejected man-made CO2 global warming hoax. It’s no coincidence that the desperate UN wants to criminalise climate scepticism worldwide. Just say no to any form of universal Digital Id (cf. Covid vaccine passport) which could be morphed into an entrapment to change your rights into conditionally-bestowed privileges.
President Trump is our beacon of hope
Overcoming these deeply-embedded dangerous globalist goals and the malign influence of unaccountable globalist bodies like the WEF might seem like an insuperable task but, as we have seen since January 2025, all it needs is a courageous leader prepared to sidestep unaccountable globalist bodies and treat them as irrelevant, as steely President Trump is doing in the USA.
He is terminating Net Zero, stopping politically-abetted mass immigration, neutering the tyrannical WHO and Big Pharma, restoring freedom of speech, dismantling DEI wokery and “draining the swamp” of institutionalised grift. With meticulous planning he is taking a wrecking ball to everything people like Starmer believe in. No wonder people like Barack Obama wanted him in prison, or dead.
The Uniparty’s pursuance of Net Zero is a major cause of the regressive, wilfully-created UK cost of living crisis which this analysis shows is due mainly to the high cost of food (the climate hoax war on farmers (thread), agricultural fertilisers and meat and dairy products), the high cost of domestic energy (ruinously-expensive decarbonisation) and the high cost of vehicle fuel (North Sea vandalism).
These wilful oppressions and the wilful ignoring of widely-voiced warnings against Net Zero from independent engineering, scientific and legal experts, e.g. here, here, here and here, shows that our Uniparty politicians are, to put it charitably, unable to see that they have been disastrously wrong from the outset.
To put it uncharitably, in my opinion they have deliberately lied to us from the outset. This view is convincingly explained by anonymous Polly in her top comment essay under this post on an important new report which clearly signals the pending formal demise of Net Zero in the USA.
Conclusions
It has long been obvious from the easily-seen-through lies and false propaganda which we have been fed for years and from “cat out of the bag” comments from UN IPCC political and scientific insiders such as here, here and here that climate change/Net Zero has little or nothing to do with climate. The menace of Agenda 2030 confirms this. The climate change agenda is all about global wealth redistribution against ordinary people and the political control of global resources and the global populace.
For many years our UK Uniparty politicians have conspired together to disenfranchise the electorate on many major issues, particularly on climate change and Net Zero. They have clearly been acting against the interests of the general public, increasingly so over the last few troubled years. They are more aligned to the dubious interests of the Davos WEF UN Big Money globalist establishment, as Starmer has openly admitted, than to the best interests of the people they are supposed to serve.
Their days of outrageous political overreach are nearing an end. The electorate is fighting back all over the world and anti-establishment, anti-deep state President Trump is showing the way forward. The majority of our Uniparty politicians have shown themselves to be rotten (be it bad or mad). They are ruining our energy infrastructure, our industrial and small business base and the social fabric of the country. They need to be swept away.
